“Duality “
In a graphic and captivating way characters emerge from just the right spontaneous movement of my son’s spastic sometimes deliberate creation of line and color, a beautiful picture unfolds before the eyes of the viewers but in the mind of Ian Smith the lines create texture and even sometimes add the perfect imperfection that was needed in an illustration of one of his favorite childhood characters. A.I creations are covered with a mesmerizing blend of colors, shapes, lines, strokes, shadows, depth, medium alteration, textures, and intricate details that seem to dance harmoniously on the surface. The imagery evokes a sense of wonder and awe, drawing the onlookers into a world of creativity and imagination between Ian and Asher who take turns drawing on the canvas till it is complete. Every stroke of the marker boards tells a unique story, inviting the audience to embark on a visual journey filled with emotion that brings joy for the youth and confusion to those trying to see the separation between skills of either artist but all together captivates one’s gaze.
The series, aptly named A.I, showcases a profound bond between a father and his three-year-old son as they embrace the canvas of marker boards with artistic fervor. The contrast between the young son’s innocence and the father’s seasoned expertise creates a dynamic interplay of perspectives within the artwork. Through their collaborative effort, the duo brings to life a series of complete art pieces that speak to the essence of creativity, collaboration, and generational connection.
As the young son and the matured artist, his father, delve into the world of A.I, their artistic expressions transcend age and experience, resonating with viewers on a profound level. The series serves as a testament to the power of art to bridge generations, inspire creativity, and evoke a sense of unity and understanding. Each piece in the series encapsulates a unique blend of youthful exuberance and seasoned craftsmanship, inviting the audience to witness the beauty of a father-son duo creating a legacy of artistry and imagination.
